South Bend Tribune: Dems call for data center ban

Several St. Joseph County Democratic leaders and candidates say that they don't just want a temporary moratorium on data centers in the county — they want an outright ban.

“We'll be back here one year from now, two years from now, in the same exact position we are in today," Rohatgi said. "And so we need to just stop and put a halt to all of these."

Shabazz said that although members of both parties have supported data centers, "only one party has been in control of the governorship, the state legislature, the county council and the board of commissioners."

And, she said, none of the four Democrats who spoke Wednesday have ever voted for a hyperscale data center, "and we never will.”
